David Kogan
Principal, Global Media Rights
David Kogan is Principal of the Global Media Rights division based in London. He was co-founder, with Sara Munds, of Reel Enterprises Ltd which was sold to Wasserman Media Group in 2011. Reel was formed in January 1998 and includes broadcasters, sports federations and digital platforms companies on its client list. The current client list in the UK includes broadcasters such as the BBC and sports clients such as the Premier League, Football League, SPL, NFL and Premier Rugby in the UK.
Kogan began his career in newspapers in 1979. He then worked as a journalist in radio and newspapers and co-authored two books on British politics. In 1982 he joined the BBC where he worked on news and current affairs programmes. He was the BBC radio editor in New York in 1984/5. In 1988 he joined Reuters Television as Managing Editor. He subsequently became Managing Director in the United Kingdom and was then, for three years, the global Managing Director. He also acted as the launch Managing Editor of GMTV in 1993 and a member of the Board of London Radio.
In 1996, Kogan joined the Granada Media Group as Executive Director of Granada Channels which he left to create Reel Enterprises in 1998.
David is a graduate of Oxford University where he gained a BA (Hons) in Modern History in 1979. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Television Society and has an Honorary Doctorate in the Arts from the University of Bedfordshire. He is the Chairman of the Corporation of Westminster Kingsway College and a Non-Executive Director of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office
Services Division. He is also the former Chair of the Broadcasting and Creative Industries Disability Network a former NED and acting Chair of Shed Plc and Governor of the University of Luton, now Bedfordshire.
He is married with two daughters.
